This is the smallest class of standard Navy ships, with sizes typically ranging from approximately 55 meters to 120 meters—comparable to the smaller frigates. These vessels may be designed as versatile, multi-role platforms or optimized for specialized tasks such as coastal patrol and surveillance. They are often capable of relatively high speeds, generally between 25 and 40 knots.
